 | In this section we discover the editor, explaining the basic editing options. The editor is the window that opens when you select open and open a page like a newsletter, content page, news article, or any other page.
Please watch the video for the complete 2 hours guide to editing pages.
(Using the Document Editor; includes basic formatting, Images, Links, Tables, and some advanced options.)
Quick-read Supporting Documentation
The editor is the tool that you will use to make the changes to pages. The editor is a full HTML editor, with the ability to edit the actual source code and edit the page in "Edit Mode". The Edit mode is the default view mode when the editor opens.
To change modes click the mode icons on the bottom of the editor window. Remember that changing from the code mode to the edit mode, you will need to click the OK button when asked "Update from code". Clicking Cancel, will discard the changes.
To the right of the Mode buttons is the View Options. These options zoom the page in and out. Making the contents on the page larger and smaller.
The "View Invisible Elements" button, is one of the most important buttons when editing a page. When enabled (on) it will show the invisible elements that make up a page.

File
These options include, Save, Save As, Publish. It also includes the undo and redo options as is standard with any editing program. This section also include the spelling checker. The spelling checker is provided by IeSpell. It will need to be installed separately. Click here to download and install the IeSpell application.
Clipboard
These options include the standard application clipboard options. Cut Copy and Paste. The additional option Paste (with formatting) allows you to paste what you have in the clipboard with the additional formatting. If you copy text from another application like Microsoft Word, and paste it into SoftPage, the formatting is copied too, however when you paste (normal) then the formatting is removed, however when you paste (with formatting) the font colours and sizes etc are copied too. Try this a few times you will see the difference. Paste has also been hooked up with the standard keyboard options, Ctrl + x, c, and v.
Font
These options include the standard font settings. Select over the text and use the bold, italic, underline and strike options. These options can also be used in combination. The Font face drop-down also includes your own system fonts but remember that the fonts installed on your computer may be different to that of another users computer - in this case the font will not display. The font used must be installed on the computer. Fonts are not embedded it the page. This is why there are common font families (first few) that are common, and installed on almost any computer. Rather stick to these fonts.
Paragraph
These options include the paragraph settings that are present on almost any text. There are two standard types; Paragraph and DIV. The Paragraph has a default space from one line of text to the next, and the DIV does not. If you use a Paragraph and a don't want the space from one line to the next, then use the Shift key with the Enter key to move the cursor to the next line.
The other options include the bullet pints (unordered list) and ordered list. Also see under these options are the paragraph alignment options, left, centre right and full justify.
Hyperlink
This section allows you to select over text or an image and chose the file you wish to link to. Selecting the browse icon (to the right of the link text-box), brings up the file browser. Changing the the target, makes the link open in a new window (_blank), same window (_self) and the outermost frame (_top). The Outermost frame is only used when you are using a frame-set.
